OVERCOMING PANDEMIC FATIGUE

SCRIPTURES TO REDIRECT YOUR THOUGHTS AWAY FROM ANXIETY AND LEAD YOU TO CHOOSE COURAGE

over-whelmed?

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

31What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Romans 8:31-32

anxious?

4My heart pounds in my chest. The terror of death assaults me. 5Fear and trembling overwhelm me, and I can’t stop shaking.

16But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me. 17Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and he Lord hears my voice.18He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, though many still oppose me.

Psalm 55:4-5 & 16-18

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36(As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”8:36 Ps 44:22.) 37No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. Romans 8:35-37

fearful?

1The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid?

3Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.

4The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,

delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. 5For he will conceal me there when troubles come;

he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock. Psalm 27: 1 & 3-5

1God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. 2So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Psalm 46:1-2

misguided?

8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:8-10

9He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire.10“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation.

I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46:9-11

uncertain?

11Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 12No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

13And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. 14Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. 16We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 17And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.

18Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. 1 John 4:11-18

9I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, ‘You are my servant.’ For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. 10Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.

I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

13For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.

Isaiah 41:9-10 & 13
